Brandon has significant experience in the media industry and leverages this understanding of the business to effectively counsel his clients.
Brandon earned his J.D. from the Dale E. Fowler School of Law at Chapman University in 2022, graduating magna cum laude with a dual emphasis in entertainment law and business law. While there, Brandon was Online Submissions Editor of the Chapman Law Review, an Academic Fellow in Legal Writing and Research, and a research assistant to Fowler Dean Matt Parlow. Brandon also participated in Chapman’s Industry OnRamp Program, which provides entertainment industry career prep for law school, business, and creative students.
Brandon clerked at Hall Griffin LLP while in law school and he began his legal career there, assisting with civil litigation and commercial litigation clients.
Prior to entering law school, Brandon graduated from the University of Southern California in 2003 with a B.A. degree in Critical Studies of Film and Television in the School of Cinematic Arts, and then spent years working in the media and entertainment industry. His experience includes working in many stages of production, from development through sales and distribution.
Brandon was Director of Acquisitions at Shoreline Entertainment from 2008 to 2011, where he focused on numerous key film markets and festivals around the globe, acquiring the worldwide sales rights to over 100 feature films. From 2011 to 2020, Brandon worked as a consultant, providing production services and insights and advice related to development and distribution in all forms of media.
This experience working inside the industry gives Brandon a unique perspective as a media & entertainment lawyer and is part of what drives him towards seeing his clients succeed. As he says, “It takes so many things to go right to make a movie or tv show, that when a project gets made, let alone sold, it’s so rewarding that everything fell into place.”
The complexity of the industry and unique nature of each project is also what draws him to it. “I love figuring out novel situations and novel solutions,” he says. “You never know what kind of issue is going to come up, and it’s exciting to help figure out how to solve them.”
When not representing his clients and working to make their projects a reality, Brandon enjoys travel and is himself a major fan of movies, tv, and sports.
