Maddie Kleifield



Attorney Maddie Kleifield joined McCathern in 2021 as an associate in the Dallas office, where she is focusing her practice on Intellectual Property, Business and Commercial Litigation, and Corporate Services matters. She will soon be licensed to practice in both Texas and Arizona and is currently gaining experience working with McCathern’s many established attorneys.

Maddie graduated cum laude from SMU’s Dedman School of Law in 2021. While in law school she was a member of the Corporate Counsel Externship Program which allowed her to gain valuable experience as part of the in-house legal team of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club. Maddie was also a member of the Sports & Entertainment Law Association and volunteered for the Human Trafficking Data Collection Project.

While at SMU, Maddie earned the Wilson Herndon Antitrust Award for her performance in an antitrust writing seminar and her paper that evaluated the Curt Flood Act of 1998 and what remains of Major League Baseball’s federal antitrust exemption. In her first year of law school, she also was named Best Advocate during the annual 1L Jackson Walker Moot Court Competition. Maddie clerked at McCathern’s Dallas office in the winter of 2020 and 2021, gaining additional experience that prepared her for launching her career as an attorney.

Before law school, Maddie graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University in 2017 with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and concentrations in Business and Design. While in college she was a member of the Alpha Phi International Women’s Sorority and volunteered for the Arizona State football program’s recruiting team.

Maddie is a member of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and the Dallas Bar Association, as well as the Young Texans of the American Cancer Society. In her free time, she teaches Pilates, plays tennis, and loves spending time outside with her Golden Retriever, Oliver.
