Arnold Shokouhi Elected a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation

McCathern is proud to announce that Managing Partner Arnold Shokouhi was recently elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. The distinction is a recognition of Arnold’s professional achievements, commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout Texas, and his contributions to the legal profession. Each year only one-third of one percent of Texas attorneys are nominated to become Fellows, and upon their nomination they must then be elected by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees to become a Fellow.

The Texas Bar Foundation was created in 1965 with a mission to “enhance the rule of law and the system of justice in Texas, especially for programs that relate to legal assistance for the underserved, the administration of justice, ethics in the legal profession, the encouragement of legal research, publications and forums, and education of the third brand of government.”

The Foundation is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the U.S., and to date it has distributed more than $24 million to nonprofit organizations with justice-related programs throughout Texas. In 2021-2022 alone, its grants totaled over $1.2 million for specific regional and statewide purposes.

When founded, the organization had 255 member attorneys but it has grown steadily since and today it is made up of over 10,000 Fellows dedicated to its cause.
