What You’ll Do

- Supervise, support, and develop accounting team members.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and other accounting functions.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
- Review financial information for accuracy and identify unusual activity, discrepancies, or trends requiring follow-up.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor cash activity and assist with cash-flow reporting and forecasting.
- Support client trust accounting and ensure appropriate controls and reconciliations are maintained.
- Partner with the billing and collections functions to monitor accounts receivable, collections, and related financial activity.
- Assist with preparation of financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and other financial analyses.
- Support the CFO with financial reporting and special projects.
- Coordinate with outside accountants, auditors, banks, vendors, and other financial partners as needed.
- Assist with tax reporting, audits, insurance-related financial requests, and other compliance requirements.
- Maintain strong internal accounting controls and recommend improvements when needed.
- Review existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
- Help develop accounting procedures, documentation, and consistent practices across Firm offices.
- Assist with implementation, optimization, and integration of accounting, billing, expense, and financial systems.
- Provide accounting guidance and support to attorneys, managers, and employees.
- Perform other accounting and financial responsibilities as needed to support the Firm.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Approximately 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience overseeing accounting processes or staff.
- Previous law firm or professional-services accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and internal controls.
- Experience with legal billing, trust accounting, or law firm financial operations is a plus.
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to learn and work effectively with multiple financial and business systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable being both a manager and a hands-on contributor.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with attorneys, leadership, employees, and outside vendors.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
