McCathern, PLLC is very excited for partners Ty Sheaks and Joseph Sampson’s presentations at The International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) 2018 Academy for Venue Safety & Security (AVSS) conference in Minneapolis, MN next week.

About the IAVM Academy for Venue Safety & Security

The IAVM is a global organization representing more than 500 public assembly venues

from auditoriums, arenas, convention centers, exhibit halls, stadiums, performing arts centers, university complexes, and amphitheaters. The IAVM advocates a proactive approach to preparing the professionals who manage and staff our venues, and the Academy for Venue Safety and Security (AVSS) is the perfect way in which to learn from the experts in our field and gain access to a tremendous network.

AVSS is a dynamic, two-year school built to train venue and event managers, security professionals, and other key personnel involved in every aspect of venue safety and security. The curriculum, developed and taught by a diverse team of experts, is designed to equip each and every attendee with the best practices, resources, and tools needed to face the evolving challenge of providing a safe venue for everyone.

The gathering is a four-day event beginning on Thursday, February 12, 2018 and running through Sunday, February 18, 2018.

Partner and Head of McCathern’s Restaurant and Hospitality Section, Ty Sheaks, will be leading the Legal Issues for Event and Venue Management year-2 course on Saturday, February 17th. Ty M. Sheaks is a trial attorney and partner at McCathern, PLLC based in Dallas, TX. He is the go to “fixer” for McCathern’s most difficult and high-exposure litigation matters as well as heading up the Restaurant & Hospitality Section. He is a frequent speaker on a variety of topics and has been recognized for his accomplishments in/out of the courtroom as a Rising Star in 2017, an honor conferred on less than 5% of attorneys in the State of Texas.

Partner Joseph Sampson will lead the year-1 course on Risk Management Legal Issues on Friday, February 16th. Joseph “Joey”Sampson is a partner at McCathern, PLLC at the firm’s Dallas office. He handles cases in all areas of business and civil litigation, including insurance coverage issues, D&O liability claims, E&O claims, contract disputes, construction claims, labor and employment claims, and catastrophic personal injury and premise liability claims. Joey also consults companies regarding risk management and insurance, employment issues, and general business and contract matters. In 2017, he was selected to the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
