McCathern, PLLC is pleased to announce that attorneys Joseph E. Sampson and Ty M. Sheaks have been named Partners of the firm. About Joseph E. Sampson

JSampson-headshotSince joining McCathern in 2007, Joey has garnered extensive experience and developed a successful practice in litigating matters for defendants and plaintiffs. He handles cases in all areas of business and civil litigation, including insurance coverage issues, D&O liability claims, contract disputes, construction claims, labor and employment claims, and catastrophic personal injury and premise liability claims. Joey also consults companies regarding risk management, employment issues, and contract matters. His strong risk management and insurance background allows him to bring a unique perspective to both consulting businesses and to his litigation practice.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Joey graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in Risk Management and Insurance. After working for a number of years in risk management, Joey went on to earn his law degree from Baylor University School of Law. About Ty M. Sheaks

TSheaks-headshotTy leads McCathern’s Retail, Restaurant, and Hospitality Section and also has extensive experience and a successful track record in a variety of business litigation matters involving personal injury claims, premises liability claims, non-subscription defense, labor/employment disputes, D&O liability claims, construction disputes, toxic tort and products liability claims, and breach of contract actions. Additionally, he routinely advises business partners in a variety of transactional matters, business entity formation issues, and corporate governance.

An active member of the legal community, Ty is a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, Defense Research Institute, State Bar of Texas, and the Dallas Bar Association. He volunteers as a lacrosse coach at Jesuit College Preparatory School, serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Boy Scouts of America-Circle Ten Council, and is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. Ty is a graduate of the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law.
