Biography

Jordan A. Carter is a dedicated criminal defense and civil litigation attorney with a passion for helping others and making a meaningful impact in people’s lives. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Jackson State University, where she graduated in the top ten of her class in 2016. During her undergraduate studies, she was an active leader, serving as the Undergraduate President of the Year for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Southeastern Region, and as a charter member of the Fannie Lou Hamer Pre-Law Society.

Jordan earned her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law in 2019, where she distinguished herself as an honors graduate and received the prestigious CALI Award of Excellence in both Constitutional and Election Law. She was also inducted into the Order of the Barristers and served as president of the Black Law Students Association. During law school, she sharpened her advocacy skills as a competing member of the Moot Court Society, served as a staffer for the Business and Commercial Law Journal, represented her peers as a senator with the Student Bar Association, and was an active member of Phi Alpha Delta. Additionally, Jordan was selected as a “Just the Beginning Pipeline Scholar,” allowing her to extern for Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

With a strong legal foundation, Jordan has gained invaluable experience including extensive trial experience in both criminal and civil courts.  Believing in being a voice for others, Jordan started her career as a personal injury attorney working with injured parties across the State of Texas. Her time as a personal injury attorney, prompted her to become a Felony Family Violence prosecutor for the Dallas County’s District Attorney’s Office, where she assisted family violence victims, and their accused abusers obtain valuable resources aiding them in leaving domestic violence situations and/or rehabilitation for their crimes. She also helped persons arrested for prostitution get valuable resources allowing them to get housing, treatment, and jobs. Her experience includes roles as an associate attorney at Jim Adler and Associates and Thompson, Coe, Cousins, and Irons, where she worked exclusively on civil litigation matters where she worked for various individuals and insurance companies. Additionally, she assisted in investigating EEOC complaints at various businesses in the DFW metroplex.

Jordan is committed to offering personalized and compassionate representation. Known for her ability to make clients feel comfortable and valued, she approaches each case with unmatched dedication, treating every file as if it were her own. Her professional affiliations include membership in the National Black Prosecutor Association, the Dallas Bar Association, and the JL Turner Legal Foundation.

When she not working diligently for her clients,  she teaches Juvenile Law to minors arrested in Dallas County, which allows their records to be cleared. She also volunteers at various shelters providing cooking classes and resume assistance.  Jordan is an avid runner and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She enjoys spending time with her dog Sebastion and family. She is excited to continue working alongside exceptional legal professionals and making a difference in the lives of her clients.
