Biography

Jen Falk joined McCathern’s Dallas office as a partner in 2022 after a renowned career in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. Jen brings extensive experience handling high-pressure and high-exposure legal matters, which is immediately benefitting McCathern’s clients across several practice areas, including Business & Commercial Litigation, Family Law, and Criminal Defense.

Jen is Board Certified® in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, she is a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow, and she serves as Co-Chair of the Criminal Law Section of the Dallas Bar Association.

Jen began her legal career in Houston, where she was an Assistant District Attorney in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office from 2006 to 2015, handling cases involving violent felonies and vulnerable victims. While in Houston, Jen also taught Trial Advocacy as an Adjust Professor at the South Texas College of Law Houston and she was a course instructor for the Houston Police Department.

In 2016, Jen moved to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, where she was part of the Sexual Assault Unit and supervised felony prosecutions in nine of the district courts. In addition, she handled particularly high-profile and sensitive cases, worked with community partners on D.A. Office initiatives and assisted with the training of other attorneys. In 2018, Jen was named the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office Prosecutor of the Year.

Jen was the 2022 Course Director for the State Bar of Texas Advanced Criminal Law Course, where she previously served as a speaker and track moderator. She is a Faculty Advisor, Speaker, and Training Committee Member of the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association. Jen is also a faculty member of the Center for American and International Law for their course on Capital and Non-Capital Training for the Prosecution, and she is a regular speaker at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center’s Crimes Against Children Conference.

Jen received her J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2006, where she was named Outstanding Female Graduate, won the Shea Lynn Maloney Advocacy Award, and was elected a member of the Order of Barristers. In addition, Jen and three of her classmates won the national championship at the ATLA (now AAJ) Trial Competition, besting 223 other teams from 129 law schools.

Prior to law school, she earned a B.A. degree in philosophy and English from Southern Methodist University.
