Drinnon and Clark Make 2022 Top 50 Jury Verdicts in Texas List

McCathern attorneys Rodney Drinnon and David Clark were recently honored by TopVerdict.com for having one of the Top 50 jury verdicts from the State of Texas in 2022. The $8,050,933.38 verdict obtained in the 334th District Court of Harris County for McCathern’s client was recognized as the 31st largest verdict for the year.

The attorneys from the McCathern Houston office, along with attorneys Allan Goldstein and James Slayer with the law firm Morris Lendais Hollrah & Snowden, obtained the verdict on behalf of their client in the matter of Abdullatif, et al. v. Choudhri, et al. The decade-long real estate fraud lawsuit started when the Defendant filed a fraudulent lien affidavit on nine properties – while falsely claiming that he had held an unpaid promissory note from McCathern’s client. Attorneys Rodney Drinnon and David Clark were brought into the case only a week before the trial date and were faced with one of the most challenging cases a lawyer can encounter: to prove to a jury that a notarized document is fraudulent.

In August 2022, the jury awarded this significant verdict to the Plaintiffs after an eight-day trial. The verdict found the Defendants liable for committing fraud, that the Defendant filed a fraudulent lien against the properties, and that McCathern’s client never signed any promissory note with the Defendant on February 10, 2010. In November 2022, a Final Judgment was signed awarding the $8,050,933.38 in damages, including attorney’s fees, to McCathern’s client. Mr. Drinnon continues to represent the client in a number of cases despite the litany of challenges they present.

McCathern congratulates Rodney Drinnon, David Clark, Allan Goldstein, James Slayer, and the Houston office as a whole for their work on this case and for winning one of the largest verdicts in Texas in 2022. Their hard work and skill were essential in securing such a significant win.
