Biography
Partner Jesse Hoffman came to McCathern in 2011 from the Texas Attorney General’s Office and now has a thriving business litigation and appellate practice with the firm.
Jesse represents some of the most promising and successful businesses in the nation, and is routinely recognized for his accomplishments by both clients and respected legal publications. He specializes in Civil, Business & Employment Litigation, and serves as Outside General Counsel for corporate clients. Jesse is licensed to practice in all Texas State Courts, all Federal District Courts in Texas, and in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jesse earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin with majors in English Rhetoric and Political Science and earned a place in the Sigma Tau Delta honors society. He attended Law School at SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas where he was employed by the American Law Institute to assist in creating the Restatement 3rd of Torts. Jesse earned his J.D. in 2008 and accepted a position as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas, practicing in the Law Enforcement Defense Division. While litigating for the Attorney General, he was responsible for some of the State’s most groundbreaking legal victories. Among them, Jesse authored the Motion for Summary Judgment, which disposed the most critical legal issues under consideration in Sossaman v. Texas, a landmark ruling that was upheld in favor of the State in a 6-2 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Now in private practice, Jesse Hoffman dedicates those talents to helping his clients grow their businesses, maneuver increasingly complex litigation, and lay the groundwork to protect their interests well into the future. Jesse’s courtroom expertise is second to none, but equally as important is that his efforts extend well beyond the courtroom steps. Jesse represents client interests wherever they may be, including the Texas Capital where he drafted legislation to effect truly lasting change in the laws of this State. With Jesse’s dedicated assistance, his clients have enjoyed the benefit of creative solutions often coming from well outside of the box.
In addition to extensive litigation and legal experience, Jesse has a strong academic background and has been recognized by the College of the State Bar of Texas for continued dedication to his legal education well beyond the requirements of the profession. He is also an active member of the Dallas and Fort Worth communities where he resides with his three sons.
Jesse Hoffman was named to the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star® list from 2013 to 2021. Since 2018, Martindale-Hubbell has recognized Jesse as AV Preeminent, their highest level of peer rating for professional excellence, and in 2023 he was named a Gold Client Champion.
