Associate attorney Jesse Showalter joined the Dallas office of McCathern in June of this year and is making an immediate impact with many of the firm’s clients. An experienced, client-focused litigator with substantial time in the courtroom to his name, Jesse immediately fit in with the firm.

Jesse focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation, commercial trucking, construction litigation, employment law, insurance law and personal injury matters, adding to McCathern’s deep experience in these areas.

Jesse was also drawn to McCathern by the firm’s wide range of case work and the fact that the firm is willing to take cases to trial if necessary. “My favorite thing about being an attorney is being in the court room,” he says. In addition, McCathern handles plaintiff work. As Jesse puts it, “I prefer helping the little guy.”

Originally from the small town of Edgerton, Ohio, Jesse attended Bowling Green State University before coming to Texas to attend South Texas College of Law Houston. After earning his J.D. in 2013, he moved to Dallas for his first job at a law firm.

In the years since, Jesse has tried 19 jury trials, handling first chair in each one. His fondest memories as an attorney all involve helping clients reach favorable outcomes. These include a personal injury matter where his client was hurt after running into a piece of construction equipment that was left in the middle of the road, and a construction worker who was not provided fall protection equipment and subsequently fell off a roof and is now hemiplegic. In addition, Jesse reached a substantial settlement against a large trucking company that earned him a place on the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum in 2018.

After years living in Houston and then Dallas, Jesse could now be considered a de facto Texan. Furthering his local ties, next April he will marry his fiancée, who happens to be a court reporter in Dallas who he met during one of his first depositions. They have two dogs and in their free time they enjoy walks in their neighborhood and traveling.

McCathern is excited to have Jesse on our team and the firm is confident that he will be an asset in the service of our clients for years to come.
